As the younger generation today, who cannot find their way or goal in life, the children of Homunculus series have lost their sense of direction and identity, and appear to be trapped in their confused state. They are trapped inside the societal head, just beneath the mask of gold. Just as the original homunculus was trapped in his flask, the children of today are imprisoned in their societal flask, although it is disguised by the superficial golden surface. Their plight is exposed through the lens of the transparent societal surveillance system, in which they monitor their own, and everyone else's education, achievements, positions, acquisitions and family background. They must be perfect to fit into their place. The true nature of Homunculus is hidden behind the heavy gold mask worn in a parody of the fiercely competitive pursuit of comparative wealth, and buried behind the confusion of a many–faced transparency that not only reveals, but manipulates those within it.
